Hilmar Cheese

PROJECT DETAILS

Hilmar Cheese has a manufacturing plant based in Dalhart, TX. They needed a long lifespan construction solution to their roofing system.

It was decided to install a new roof system over both structural concrete tees and steel decking. The concrete tee roof areas received a venting base sheet multiple layers of polyisocyanurate insulation, a perforated base sheet, 3-plies of Ply 4 felt, and a torch adhered SBS cap sheet.

The steel deck roof areas received multiple layers of polyisocyanurate insulation, a perforated base sheet, 3-plies of Ply 4 felt, and a torch adhered SBS cap sheet.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Special considerations were made for the multiple roof areas to best design and install the roof for the proposed use.

We accounted for:

  • areas that utilized a vapor barrier for use as a cooler/ freezer.
  • areas that had added insulation for added R-value.

Additionally, fire safety was a key focus for our crews as we utilized both hot asphalt and open flame in the torch application of the cap sheet.
