PROJECT DETAILS
We worked with 2 separate general contractors on this project.
The project involved the removal of two existing plaza decks over interior basement classrooms and the technology server farm facility. The first GC removed the existing poured concrete plaza deck and bedding materials down to the poured concrete deck. We then cleaned the concrete deck, and installed a heavyweight self-adhering vapor barrier over the deck as a base for the new waterproofing system, and to protect the building interior during the continued removal of the plaza deck.
A tapered 40 PSI extruded polystyrene insulation system was installed, adhered in Soprema insulation adhesive, and a Dens Deck cover board was adhered in insulation adhesive as well. All joints of the cover board were taped with a fiberglass reinforced joint tape.
A fully reinforced Soprema Alsan RS PMMA liquid applied waterproofing system was installed over the new roof insulation, and all flashings were done using Soprema Alsan RS PMMA flashing materials.
New stainless steel counterflashings were installed.
The second GC was responsible for the installation of the new plaza deck, including cast stone benches, handrails, door thresholds, etc.
Blackmore & Buckner Roofing installed a layer of loose laid Soprema SopraBoard as a protection layer over the PMMA waterproofing membrane.
We then installed a Wassau Tile plaza paver system on adjustable Bison pedestals. The plaza pavers were in two different colors, in a pattern as designed by the project architect.
The plaza system was finished with custom made Wassau concrete stair risers, bullnose coping pieces, and custom bullnose coping caps.[stm_project_details style=”style_2″ title=”PROJECT DETAILS” css=”.vc_custom_1428651906989{margin-bottom: 41px !important;}”][stm_project_details_item label=”Operating Unit:” value=”Blackmore & Buckner Roofing, A Tecta America Company”][stm_project_details_item label=”Client:” value=”Ivy Tech Community College”][stm_project_details_item label=”Industry:” value=”Education”][stm_project_details_item label=”Project Type: ” value=”Re-roof”][stm_project_details_item label=”Location:” value=”Muncie, IN”][stm_project_details_item label=”Square Footage:” value=”8,413″][stm_project_details_item label=”Systems Installed:” value=”Reinforced PMMA Waterproofing Project”][/stm_project_details][stm_contacts_widget title=”CONTACT INFO” address=”9750 E. 150th Street, Suite 1700 Noblesville, IN 46060″ phone=”317-263-0707″ email=”info.indianapolis@tectaamerica.com” fax=”317-489-6256″]SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
The stair risers, coping pieces, and rail caps were all custom sized, and fabricated specifically for this project. A lot of time and effort went into the measuring and calculations to make everything fit together properly for a finished project.
