The Zero Company was founded in 1929 and became part of Tecta America in 2002. We provide commercial and residential roofing along with architectural sheet metal services throughout the Greater Cincinnati area including Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. In 2005, we opened our full service office in Louisville, KY.

History

Founded in 1929, Tecta America Zero Company is in its third generation of Wolf Family Management, serving the Greater Cincinnati area including Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Our services include installations of all major roofing systems, full-service roof maintenance, and architectural sheet metal work in the commercial, residential and industrial markets.

In 2002, Zero Company joined Tecta America to tap into the strengths of the nation’s largest roofing contracting firm.  In 2005, we opened another office, expanding our operations into Louisville, KY.

Management

Jonathan Wolf, President
Jonathan is a 3rd generation roofing contractor and has been employed full-time at The Zero Company since 1992. He began performing estimating, sales, and project management duties in 1988 as a summer intern while attending Washington University in St. Louis. In 1992, Mr. Wolf graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and a minor in Psychology. Jonathan has been cross trained in both Commercial and Residential Roofing and has filled the roles of Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Operations during his tenure with the company. In 1996, Mr. Wolf was named President.

While joining Tecta America in 2002 was clearly the company's watershed event under Mr. Wolf's leadership; he believes that the implementation of a company wide drug testing program in 1995 and the hiring of a full time Safety Director that followed are his biggest and most meaningful contributions to the company and all employees.

Mr. Wolf is a member of the Tecta America President's Council and has served on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Roofing Contractor's Association (ORCA,) the Board of Directors for the Jewish Family Service of Greater Cincinnati, and was a Big Brother Youth Mentor.

Jim Stark, Sr. Vice President - Operations Manager
Jim Stark, joined The Zero Company in January 2004 as operations manager. Before coming to Zero he served as President of a Nashville, TN based roofing company. He brings fifteen years of experience starting as a sheet metal foreman, superintendent and project manager. His current duties for Zero include personnel management, customer service, project coordination, safety compliance and quality control.

Ed Phillips, Controller
Ed joined the Zero Company as Controller in 2008 with responsibility for the overall financial management of the company. He comes to the Zero Company with over 17 years of progressively responsible financial experience. He has extensive experience in manufacturing and consumer products industries. Ed’s broad range of financial experience includes starting his career in public accounting, and then working as Accounting Manager at Panasonic, Division Controller at Carlisle SynTec, and Finance Manager at Procter & Gamble. In addition to his corporate experience, he has also owned and operated his own business.

Ed graduated from Heidelberg College with a B.S. in Accounting and also holds an MBA from Kent State University.

Gabe Drake, Residential/Steep Slope Operations Manager
Gabe Drake joined The Zero Company management team in December 2008. Gabe has over 15 years of residential construction experience as a Project Manager, General Contractor, and Tradesman. Most recently, before joining The Zero Company, he operated a custom home building company in the greater Cincinnati area. His vision for the Residential Operations division is to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations through consistent communication and quality installation performance.

Dan Bottoni, Service Superintendent and Quality Control Manager
Dan brings over 30 years of roofing and sheet metal experience to our service department both in the commercial and residential roofing field. Dan has worked in the field as a laborer, lead man, foreman, superintendent and department manager on some of Tri-States largest projects. Dan’s careful attention to detail and focus on the highest quality standards in the industry makes him an invaluable asset to our company and to our customers.

Mike Duenhoft, Commercial Superintendent
Mike Duenhoft started his roofing career in 1976 and joined The Zero Company in 1984 as a roofer. He then worked his way up to foreman and supervisor managing and scheduling manpower, materials and projects from inception to completion. He also assists with labor estimation on difficult or special projects.

Matt Gennett, Commercial Project Manager
Matt Gennett started with The Zero Company in Late 2006 as a Commercial Superintendent. He got his start as a carpenter’s apprentice out of high school while attending college. He was promoted through his previous company from Foreman to Project Manager where he traveled around the country for a large contractor out of Michigan running large commercial remodels. He finished a degree in IT from Cincinnati State in 2006 and then he finished a degree in business from Xavier University in July 2008 all while working full time. Matt speaks Spanish fluently.

Ben George, Service Coordinator
Ben joined The Zero Company in April of 2008. As the Coordinator of the commercial Service & Maintenance Division, Ben is responsible for customer relations, scheduling field crews, billing and contract administration. Ben is new to the roofing industry. Before working at Zero, he studied Philosophy and Political Science at the undergraduate and graduate levels, worked as a teaching assistant and taught courses in Philosophy, Western Civilization, Literary Studies and English Composition to undergraduates at Xavier University and The Art Institute of Ohio, Cincinnati. He completed a Master's in Humanities from Xavier University in August, 2008. Ben’s dedication to high levels of customer service as well as his efficient management style and keen attention to detail is a driving force behind the success of our service and maintenance division

Jim Harris, Residential Sales
Jim Harris joined The Zero Company in 1994 as an estimator before being promoted to Vice President in charge of the Residential Division. He is now partially retired and works seasonally for us in residential sales. He has 30 years of experience in the residential sales, estimating and quality customer service. Before coming to Zero, Mr. Harris worked as a field employee for a residential roofing contractor for 3 years and 1 year as estimator. From 1979 to 1989 he owned a small Residential Roofing Company. Mr. Harris has also served in UNITED STATES MARINE CORP from 1970 to 1974, duties ranging from aircraft re-fuel to military police officer.

Jim Haitz, Safety Director
Jim Haitz joined the Zero Company in 2004 as the Safety Director. Before joining the Zero Company Jim served as Safety Director and Project Coordinator for a company at the Fernald Plant in Ross, Ohio. Jim is a big believer in Behavior based Safety, and brings over 18 years of Construction experience, starting as a welder before joining the Safety field. Jim Graduated from Maysville Community College in 1986 with an Associates Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management.

Keith Higginbotham, Residential Project Manager
Keith has of over 16 years of home-improvement sales and management experience with extensive product and installation method knowledge of siding, windows, gutters, gutter protection, and insulation. Prior to joining The Zero Company in 2008, Keith was the Sales Manger for two other full service roofing companies as well as a Regional Sales Manager for a national home-improvement supplier.

Ben Mackie, Commercial Project Manager
Ben Mackie joined the Zero Company in the spring of 2005. Before joining the company, Ben served as a compliance inspector and project manager for the Indiana Department of Transportation in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he enforced state regulation, evaluated pavement distress, and performed permit administration. He also has three years experience in hardware sales. Ben holds two degrees; an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Sam Mullikin, Residential Production Manager
Sam joined TectaAmerica Zero Company in June of 2009 as the Residential Production Manager. He brings over 8 years of residential construction and remodeling experience to TectaAmerica Zero Company. Some of Sam's responsibilities include customer relations, overseeing foreman and field crews, maintaining inventory, managing projects from inception to completion, safety compliance, and conducting inspections. Sam's willingness to ensure quality and value to our customers is essential to the Residential/Steep Slope Department.

Joel Presar, Commercial Estimator
Joel Presar is a second generation estimator and project manager with 15 yrs of estimating and project management experience as well as over 20 yrs in the commercial roofing industry. Joel has been with the Zero Company since 2007. He started his career working as an installer for a contractor in his hometown while attending college. He later gained more experience working first as a commercial roofing manufacturer sales representative and later for a major commercial roofing distributor. Since 1996 he has worked as an estimator and project manager in the Dayton and Cincinnati markets. Joel is experienced in working with multiple roofing systems ranging from Single Ply, BUR, and Modified Bitumen as well to Metal Roof and Wall Panel systems. This wide range of knowledge coupled with manufacturing and distribution experience give him a very strong and unique understand of the overall commercial roofing process and industry as a whole. Joel puts his experience to use bidding much of our large and more complex projects.
