Ft. Washington, Pa. — Tecta Solar, a division of Tecta America Corp., recently completed the installation of a 511.5 kWp (DC) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system for Harleysville Insurance, in Harleysville, Pa. The project is projected to generate approximately 15 percent of the annual energy needs for the insurance company’s corporate headquarters, or 623 MWh of energy – which is equivalent to powering 62 average Pennsylvania homes for a year. The solar professionals at Tecta Solar provided a full-service solution for Harleysville and managed the project from start to finish. Services included development, securing a grant, design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the roof-mounted project. In order to bring this project to fruition, Tecta Solar incorporated panels from ET Solar, a SMA inverter (to convert the DC power generated by the panels into AC power), and a Sunlink racking system. “Tecta Solar was proud to install this system to support Harleysville’s commitment to the preservation of the environment and conservation of natural resources,” says Ken Beiser, Managing Director of Tecta Solar. Harleysville received a $355,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority to help fund the project. Tecta prepared the grant application on behalf of Harleysville, which was awarded the grant via the CFA’s competitive application process. “Tecta Solar has the ability to get boots on the roof quickly and construct the system with its in-house labor force,” says Pat Bollinger, Project Manager for Tecta Solar. “We were also able to design and install a customized racking solution on a portion of the rooftop that was not able to support a traditional ballasted system, maximizing the system size.” Tecta Solar will provide ongoing operations and maintenance services on the project for Harleysville. |
