Storm preparedness critical to protection and recovery from storms

Commercial roofing leader Tecta America, with its comprehensive and proactive storm management approach, has taken all steps necessary to assist existing clients on the East Coast with disaster recovery efforts as Hurricane Irene plots its path and approaches the U.S. eastern seaboard.

“As the East Coast braces for the impact of this storm, Tecta America is ready and waiting to assist our customers the instant the winds pass,” said Dave Schupmann, Senior Vice President with Tecta America. “Following any disaster of this nature, immediate roof repairs are critical to preventing further damage or business interruption. Our state-of-the-art Customer Solutions Center puts us in a position to do just that.”

Tecta’s industry leading Customer Solutions Center provides clients with a single point of contact to report roof damage in the event of an emergency. Schupmann adds that this is particularly critical to clients with a portfolio of multiple properties affected by a storm, and the Solutions Center has allowed Tecta to respond instantly to other recent high-profile storms, including Hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Rita.

The company’s response efforts are aided by Tecta’s new advanced Weather Command System which monitors weather patterns around the country in real time and assesses potential damage. Information from thousands of data points, including weather tracking stations, trained storm spotters and government officials is reviewed and analyzed to provide Tecta with the most accurate, timely reports on storm activity and to allow it to position repair crews accordingly.

Hurricane Irene has recently grown to a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of more than 120 miles per hour and could see winds reach speeds of more than 130 miles per hour if elevated to a Category 4. The storm is expected to move up the eastern seaboard through the weekend, first landing in North Carolina and potentially reaching as far north as Maine.
