    Hail Storm Synopsis

Numerous severe thunderstorms impacted the greater Phoenix metro area on October 5, 2010.  Sufficient instability coupled with cool storm outflows allowed hail to reach the ground underneath the most intense storms.  Hail stones ranged from 0.50 to 2.50" in diameter.  Hail consistency was hard with a one to two minute duration in most locales causing visible skylight and automobile damage initially.
